Hodge Podge VIII

Well I am finally back from all my travels and all nestled and snug at my desk. For some reason, I just cannot get in mode to get any work done! Somewhere between the ever so awesome trip to New Orleans, and my visit back home to Ohio, my brain got lost...I hope it finds me again...soon!

New Orleans was the shiznit! I had never been there before this trip, and I honestly didn't think I would have much fun since it was all about work. I couldn't have been more wrong! We're talking about jambalaya and gumbo galore, Bourbon Street, the French Quarter, Jazz, Blues, lots of drinking, and nudity. I tell you what, there was NEVER a dull moment! And get this...my room was not ready, so I was conveniently upgraded to the jacuzzi room with a kitchen and super tall king sized bed...ahhh, it was fantabulous!

Ohio was...well...okay. I had not seen my family in months, so it was nice to see them. And remember the eleventy baby showers I had to attend back in February (among them was Nina's)? I got to see all the little bambinos who are all about 3 months old now and ever so freaking adorable. I also learned that W and D think they have girlfriends who are much older than them, but that's an entirely different post.

On the radio today, they were having a conversation about Immigration, and all of a sudden a brain cell was revived! How do I feel about the issue? And actually, I think I'm okay with folks coming to what others believe is the land of opportunity, the only problem I have is with illegal Aliens. It really does bother me that many take jobs getting paid cash, thus they do not pay the high ass taxes I pay. Many of them are also on "the system" and receive free medical benefits which is funded by those high ass taxes I pay. My feelings are hey, join us if you'd like, but please follow the proper procedures for citizenship.

Still not feeling the post about Wal-Mart guy, but have received a very interesting phone call from the Engineer of All Things That Must Be Mopped and Swept (mentioned in an earlier post), so stay tuned...

W and D are away at camp this week, so I will be basking in the glory of rest and relaxation! What did I miss while I was gone?

You missed ME of course!
but then again, I missed you too. Glad you had a fantabulous time (that's one of my favorite words too). I can't think today at work either, since all I have in my head is how I"m going to redo my place (with limited funds).

NoR~Why of course I missed you! I thought to myself...hmmm wonder what NoR's eleventy posts were about today :)

And hey don't fret...I have friends who have pimped their cribs on a tight budget and they look better than what you see on TV!

From fantabulous to...Ohio. Poor thing. That's what we call a "downgrade." LOL.

Nance~Yeah, kinda what we call "going from sugar to shit!" But it was great seeing my babies, I also went to a bridal shower! :)

I'm glad New Orleans was amazing. I've never been, but the guy I dated last Winter was from there and went back almost every year, he loved it so much.

I'm also glad you're back and have a kids-free week. It will be a nice rest for you.

Churlita~Girlfriend possiblities are endless this week!

In this part of the country, most of the immigrants sort of pay taxes - they usually give false Social Security numbers and have taxes taken out of their paychecks. Although, to your point, cash under the table does happen.

I could never live in New Orleans because all I would just eat and eat and eat and eat and then I would be one of those really fat guys you would pay to see at the circus.

Sometime, I might share the story about my one trip to Marti Gras where I drank a lot and vomited on a male stripper. Dude should have never tried to show me his dudeness because I was all BLEEAARRRGHHHH!!!

And I think if the world wants in then we should be able to travel the world without all the hassle as well. I cannot even walk over the Canadian border without getting stip searched (a little eggageration).

I loved New Orleans, most money I ever spent on food in my life, but it was so damn good and worth it. Besos

MrT~Dudeness...I love it! So I guess that means that those girls walking down Bourbon Street with the painted on swimsuits were showing me their chickness!

Nina~Somehow, I get the feeling you are slightly biased.

Kofi~Ahhh yes, it's always good to go away, but I am very happy to be back :)

Heather~You made me laugh loud in my office...I hope no one noticed!

Scott~Exaggeration indeed! Although that reminds me that I did pass a guy at the airport who could have strip searched me all he wanted to!

Es~You are SO right! And I tried fried oysters for the first time and loved them! The sweetest thing was that my job gave me some money up front for my food, and I used every dime!!!
