Birthday Blues

Well, all of my friends out there in blog land...the day has finally arrived. It's my birthday, and as I drove home tonight (second drunken night in a row-Yeah, even though I vowed after leaving the dentist to never alter my state of mind again, I relapsed in the Wine Shop on the "samples"), a sudden sadness hit me. It's my final year in my 20's, I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up, and to top it off, I'm lonely. (Loooooonnnng sigh)

Oh, Susan, you will also be glad to know that alcohol was not my only relapse this weekend!

In comments...drunken stories, more birthday blues, and who needs stinkin' love anyways?!

Happy Birthday, who knows where the line is drawn for growing up? As for love, maybe it's just lurking around to surprise you later on. Have a fabulous day.

Thanks Eslocura! Maybe so (love)!

Happy Birthday Tera!!!!!!!!!! I don't know if this will help any, because I'm still looking for my Mr. Right after many times thinking I had found him, but for me 29 was my most difficult year. I had so many expectations of what my life was supposed to be. When I turned 30 I felt relieved, like, okay this is what it is. Life is short and it's for real now, so I'd better just enjoy it.

Anali~Thanks! Doesn't it suck to think that you've found the one only to find out that he's not??? It's like I have to keep starting from scratch! I don't really want to end up alone, and as you said, life is short, so prayerfully, he's out there somewhere! :)

lol, drunken stories i have plenty. more forgotten than remembered i'm afraid. don't worry about growing up. just deal with your day to day responsibilities and the rest will fall into place. as for the lonly part. it will happen when it happens. untill then enjoy being single cause once you're part of a couple 'me' time disappears. happy birthday chicky! enjoy it. :-)

Heather, thanks! You may have a good point there about the "single days!"

Happy birthday! I wouldn't lose too much sleep over the "what I thought I would have done by now" thoughts. EVERYONE has em. I know I do. As for the Mr. Right stuff. BELIEVE me at 38, I know the "you are supposed to be married by now" looks/comments/etc. In fact I just had a big argument/almost fight with a good friend of mine the other day about this. I used to let them get to me, but then I realized by that logic it must also be true that you are supposed to be married and divorced by then as well.

Anyways, happy birthday!

Happy Birthday Tera!! Thank goodness the draught has come to an end. Mine has went into full swing for a little while. I'm kind of sending off the "leave me alone" vibe to the males in my life.

You can always go by my philosophy: "I'm done with love--Thank God there's still sex!"

Happy Birthday Tera!!! Yes they should still be happy. At some point you reach a stage where you can't say, "when I grow up" because you'll have to admit that you are grown up and that nobody else has any more of a clue than you do. You won't feel any different. You just kind of come to grips with the fact that you never will feel any different.

So, who gets the honor of doling out the Birthday Spankings? (raises hand)

Tera said...

BD~Thanks for the birthday wishes! I probably SHOULDN'T concentrate on being with someone when my pessimistic outlook is that with marriage there is too much of an inevitablity of divorce!

Susan~Thanks! Oh yes...there will ALWAYS be sex...life is grand!

Dagromm~Thank you (bending over showing bare ass)!!!

Happy birthday (I've been reading for a while but not posting, stumbled here after reading some of your friends' pages)... I was hoping life got better as you ran out of twenties. I'm hoping it gets better for you.

(And I'm starting to think love is kind of over-rated)

Tera said...

Kofi~Welcome!!! Always a pleasure to have new readers and input! Thanks, and you may be right...what the hell is love anyways?

Dagromm said...

Love means that you put up with shit from someone that you wouldn't from anyone else, and hopefully it's reciprocated.

Tera said...

Dagromm~Thanks for the explanation...I'm sure there's more... ;)

There might be. It's a bad day to ask. My lazy Sunday turned into a clean the garage Sunday. Six hours later, there's still work to do. Oh well.

Just a warning, my birthday spankings come with a blindfold and handcuffs. You can ask Q if you don't believe me.

Happy birthday!

What is this love that you speak of and can you get a shot for it?

Tera said...

Thanks Mist!!! I don't know...maybe we'll get the answer somewhere in Susan's comments today!

Q said...

Tera, be forewarned Dagromm's birthday spankings also come with bruises and rope.

Happy belated birthday!

Tera said...

Note to self...Thanks Q!

Since we are new best friends and all, I had an idea.

Hey, I know what let's do. Let's go sign up for the Coast Guard class so that we can charter a boat (not to exceed 100 tons, not that I checked online already) and sail to BWI this summer and get engaged to rich old men.

Tera said...

Mist, great! Uh BWI...Baltimore Washington International Airport? Building and Wood Workers' International? I said "wood."

What was I saying???

Oh, I'm ready, glad you checked on the boat...I'm game for getting engaged to rich men...it may take some convincing for the "old" part...

Happy Birthday, Tera! And what on Earth are you sighing and fussing about? Haven't you heard that 30 is the new 19? You've got a long way to go!!

Kisses from NE Ohio.

I'll have a martini in your honor on Friday, which is also my LAST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR THE YEAR!!!!!

Tera said...

Nance~Thanks LOL! I was totally convinced of that until after a night of dancing I needed Ben Gay!!!! LOL!

Thanks for the birthday wishes...and yes, have a Martini...have 2...I know those kids drove you guys crazy!!!

You used wood and old in that comment. You made me forget my good idea. Damn.

Happy birthday, Tera! I'm out of drunken stories even though we didn't stop drinking the entire grandma-funeral weekend. I had no idea how much fun traveling with my brother could be. I think you just gave me tomorrow's post.

I hope it was a good day. The rest of your (love) life is ahead of you.

Tera said...

Mist1~Shit! I was looking forward to it! Let me help you...it starts off with, "Hey, I know what let's do..."

Fringe~Thanks! Isn't it weird how when a relative passes, everybody's a great sport at getting shit-faced?!?!?
