Innocence Lost

The most innocent and adorable face you ever could see is that of a child. They are the littlest people...with the most gentle touch, genuine ideas, and the most inquisitive minds. They are at our mercy when it comes to those physiological needs such as food, safety, shelter.......and love. In order to reciprocate our provisions for them, they pour out unconditional love in abundance and remind us that they are the little lives that we've created and are 100% responsible for...they are our children.

Well my friends out there in Blogland...in the past couple of days, my cousin's Godson has fallen victim to one of the most hateful, most inconceivable, most ridiculously absurd, and most heinous crimes of them all at a tender tender young age of 2...he was MURDERED.

When I got the call Tuesday, I asked what happened. The (new) boyfriend who was babysitting the young man said that he allowed him to get out of the bathtub alone, and he accidentally fell. His mother came home LATER that afternoon to find him gasping for air and rushed him to the doctor. That left me to wonder...how accidental could that have been if he let the young man sit there ALL DAY in agony without calling 9-1-1 or taking him to the ER? I knew at that moment that he must have done something to him...sure enough, yesterday, it was on the news...it was ruled a HOMICIDE.

There was an arrest made today. The coroner reported that the young man had suffered from several blows to the head and chest. There was blood nestled behind his retinas, and he had suffered severe brain damage before death. All the motherfucker had to say about it was..."Sorry."

There is nothing that can undo what he has done; there is nothing he can say to redeem himself; and similarly, there is nothing that can bring the young man back. A tragedy indeed...a true tragedy indeed.

In comments, what compels one to harm the most innocent creatures on earth?

This kind of scenario makes me ill and furious. That poor child.

Oh, so sad. It's power, used against the powerless.

I know you aked for comments, but I have none for this nightmare. Please give my deepest sympathy to the baby's mom.

Grief opens me to typos.

I don't know if you've seen the news but I know the woman/girl who was held captive in West Virginia from when we were little. It's something I can't even wrap my mind around...such cruelty.

Nance~And I'm sure you've seen it all over the news up there and in the papers...it is just sad.

Noregrets~You're exactly right, and he will have to pay for what he's done.

Fringes~I knew this would be a tough one for you to chew and swallow...thank you for commenting, and for your sympathy.

Susan~Oh my...I couldn't imagine. There are such monsters in this world!

Susan, I just looked up the item you mentioned. It's shocking to me the discussion they are having under the story on one of the news web sites. Holy crap. I don't even want to say which one since I don't want anyone else to go there.

Evil-ness abounds.

This is so terrible. I'm not sure I have any answers. I've always suspected jealousy was/is a factor. I've seen/heard variations on scenario played several times. Babies often seem to become victims just because they were born. And that sucks.

i'm at a loss for words.
please pass along my sympathies to the mother.

Kofi~It is a wonder if that may play a role. He was a fairly new boyfriend which makes me wonder why he was even left with the child in the first place...which that's another can of worms and I won't go there.

Heather~I hear ya. And even sadder I am hoping her story has changed a couple of times due to shock...and nothing else.

I am unable to conceive of the hate, cowardice, and unequivical depravity that must exhist in someone that allows them to be capable of such a crime. There is a special place in the lowest circle of hell reserved for such animals.

Cyber~Nicely put!!! I concur.

my sympathies to the mother of course. i never could quite understand what would make a person want to hurt someone else more than less a child. it disgusts me so bad!.....i wish the judicial system, allowed the punishment of, when someone conducts a harsh crime of the sort to someone else, that is done to them instead of jail. what do they care once in jail?...that is letting them get away with it, with free meals and housing for the rest of their lives.....

sorry as you can tell i cant stand anyone who hurts a child!

Belle~I agree! Another one of my friends had her baby shaken by the baby's father a few years ago!! The baby is now almost 3 and cannot walk or talk or do anything that other children her age do. And that motherfucker is coming home from jail in 1 1/2 years!!! Cruel and unusual punishment should be in full effect for his punk ass!!!!!

I can't even fathom this. I have a 16-month-old boy who is the absolute light of my life, and if anything were to happen to him at all, let along something like this, I'd snap. No question. A good friend of ours just lost her 5-year-old nephew yesterday when someone hit him while he was riding his bike. I have a hell of a time dealing with the death of a child no matter how it happens. Beating a child to death? Deserves the death penalty if you ask me.

I'm so sorry Tera. This is horrible. I have no words or understanding for this.

Jefe~Welcome to P&P! I hear you, and agree with you wholeheartedly! That bastard should never even see the light of day again!

Anali~I am certain NO ONE can understand such a cruel act. I often wonder if monsters like that ever feel remorse.

Thanks, Tera. I found you from someone... a mutual read... DangerDoll, maybe?
