Citizens Arrest!

Well, well, well fellow bloggers...I finally have calmed down enough to let you all know what ticked me off this morning!

As I am riding down the expressway on my merry way to work I am approaching my exit and gearing up for that tricky merge thing that happens when I get off...and lo and behold...I am cut off...BY A COP!!! Who then proceeds to turn and commence speeding down an adjacent street!!!

You know what really pi**es me off about this? Those bast**ds can't wait until they catch someone doing more that 25 in a residential...they can't wait until they catch you speeding on the expressway where the speed limit is a ridiculous 55 mph and everyone knows it should AT LEAST be 65 mph...they can't wait to be a thorn in the club-goers sides upon exiting the club...they can't wait to appear in traffic court to tell the judge how you didn't yield, or stop, or whatever...they can't wait to bother the homeless man who is quite intoxicated but minding his own business...oh no, they just can't wait!!! BUT...

They have no problems blocking streets with their cars facing opposite directions so they can have their conversations over coffee, doughnuts, and a cigarette...or turning on their lights and sirens as a false alarm and "permission" to run a red light...or how about those have a little "personal gain" from the latest drug bust...or driving their cruisers to conduct "personal business" like going to play their lottery numbers or paying their utility bills!!! Are we supposed ignore those that break the same laws that they are supposed to ensure that we abide by??? Should we condone this type of behavior?

Your thoughts....

Maybe you need to take down the plate number and call it into the local station...HA!!! Like that would make a difference.
It is my opinion that the drivers in your city lack the necessary skills to operate a vehicle on public roadways. (God help us all if it's raining too hard or snowing!) Maybe the police officers are just a prime exmaple of what the city raises and dumps back into the community?

sigh. i know exactly how frustrated you are, but i still say that these officers are in the minority. i can't speak out too strenuously against the police when i wouldn't be on that side of the badge for any amount of money. they have a thankless job, in my opinion. no matter who they stop, arrest, or shoot, they are immediately excoriated by someone for it. and they never know who is going to freak out or pull a gun on them. i sure know plenty of officers around who have a self-inflated sense of their own importance, but i do know for a fact that when they use cruisers for their own business it's usually because the municipalities want there to be a police presence in the community. i wouldn't mind a cruiser being parked on my street or an officer in the store buying a coffee or a legal lottery ticket while i was getting my bread and milk. it sure would keep crime down, don't you think?

Nance~I agree that it is a very dangerous job and that they put themselves at risk often times. I too know very arrogant officers who I have witnessed "picking on" people for no reason at all! I have also witnessed them bullying and trying to intimidate people. Just abusing power and their position.

While growing up, I'd learned the police being present doesn't always cut back on crime...I have had family and friends that would STILL commit crimes RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM and really don't care! Sure, I am certain that (police presence) makes most people feel a sense of safety and security, but when you have lived in areas (or have friends/family who live in areas where it takes them 30 minutes just to arrive after a frantic DV call, or where they don't come at all, one is left to wonder where they are...Who knows, maybe in the store buying that damn lottery ticket!

I read this interesting article about a police officer who gave himself a ticket for making an incorrect lane change!

For fear of losing my driving privileges and spending another evening in a cell with girls picking scabs off one another, I would simply like to comment that I support my local police department.
