Spring Has Sprung

The firewall at work in all of its wonderful randomness recently blocked me from my blog...it took a little "sweet talking" and perhaps a smidgen of lip gloss to get said IT Guy to unblock me, but nevertheless...

That time of year has come...fresh "weather-" scented breeze, birds chirping, joggers jogging, kids at play, dogs walking their owners, oh and let me not forget...love...sweet love in the air. I don't know what it is, but something always ignites a little flame in me (either that or this damned vow of celibacy I've taken) and my hormones run wild.

Well I can no longer contain this burning desire...in all its intensity. I have a crush on someone. It comes and goes, but I have had it for about 2 1/2 years now (ever since I moved to Kentucky). I have never acted upon it. 10 years ago, my confidence was off the charts, and my ease and comfort with approaching men was at its all time high...not anymore. I'm not sure where it has gone, but I fear if I don't find it in me to do something, and something FAST, he may just slip through my fingers....

He works at my kids' school...he is the...ahem...Engineer of all things that must be mopped and swept. There is a certain charm about him. I guess the attraction grows more and more with my new found love for bald men. :) I have struck up a couple of conversations here and there because he adores my children and often times joins the Before and After School program staff in games of basketball or football with the children---they adore him too. Must I also mention he has a son who attends the program (who is a year younger than my Lil D). I found out from the kids that his son's mother died in a car crash years ago.

So...what's the problem do you say? I bitch up EVERY time I am presented the opportunity to utter the words, "Excuse me, are you single?" My guess is that he is with all the flirting he does with the women on the B&A School program staff which are only there ironically because of my repeated concerns (complaints) about the absence diversity among the staff! Is he interested in/attracted to me? I'm not sure, but he does smile at me an awful lot, and looks at certain "more defined" body parts that I possess.

I finally mustered up the strength to send him an e-mail yesterday...but due to the absence of a computer in his "office," I doubt he checks his work account...I also have not received a read receipt.

I need your help! What do I do next....?

One: I absolutely love that you requested a read receipt. You, my dear, amuse me wonderfully.

Two: Call upon the 'c. thunnnddaaa' powers within and ask him out face to face if he doesn't answer your email. I, still, firmly believe the worst thing they can say is no.

However, isn't it far worse to always wonder "what if" then to have to deal with any rejection feelings?

It is, my dear, always worth the chance...

Lots of hugs going your way and all the luck I have to wish to someone..

You could always send an email and put your blog URL in the signature line and wait to see if he follows the link to find out more about you and then - BOOM! You've got this blog post here waiting for him.

Jump him in the hallway and mark him as yours.

I'm joining the "jump him in the hallway" crowd. Speak up, don't let an chance slip away, ya just never know what excitement awaits.

Es, note that G is plugging for his kind - IT and not engineer of all that must be mopped and swept...

g, you're not helping any.

nor and es, i'm all for sex ed in the schools but i'd rather it not be of the 'see dick and jane get it on' variety so i'm voting against the whole 'jump him in the hallway' movement.

tera, is there a chuck-e-cheese or something similar in your area? maybe you can invite him and his son to join you and your boys for a pizza. i say chuck-e-cheese cause after the kids are done eating they'll disappear for a few minutes and you and your crush will have some time to chat.
(or a local mcdonalds with a play palace)

good luck!

Susan~

One: I do what I can!

Two: I approached him this morning, because I felt eyes on me...the bad thing is, he just hesistated and smiled when I asked was he single :( so I answered YES for him!!!

MRT~Welcome!!! Very, very clever...however he responded to the e-mail today, so I suppose that won't be necessary!

NoR~I'd love to, but see my response to Susan

Gyuss~Welcome back! That doesn't sound like a bad idea (see my response to Susan as well).

Es~Perhaps I should have included all of you in on the response to Susan?

NoR~IT Guys ARE hot!

Heather~That is EXACTLY what I thought I'd do, but in light of the recent discovery, maybe not. It's funny though, because he seems interested, so when I responded to his e-mail, I asked for a little specificity...as long as he's not married and he is dating or just has an FB...in my eyes, he's still fair game!!!

Nance~It's great to be back!! And I'm still pissed, because I can only visit a select few of your guys' blogs!!! I'll have to post comments from home I guess :(

Susan~Me too damn it, me too.

Happy Spring Tera! This is exciting news! Maybe you could ask him if he wants to grab a coffee sometime? Good luck! ; )

Tera said...

Anali~Well, I found out that he was very interested, but not very single...bad, bad, BAD!

Happy Spring to you as well! :)

Awww! What the hell was he doing interested but not single? To quote Pebbles, "He's just a canine runnin' 'round in heat."

I was going to suggest you do a "Buttons" on him (see Pussycat Dolls video). That thing nearly had me shot off my treadmill this morning in a disoriented haze.

Tera said...

Alan~Welcome to P&P!!! Yeah, I asked him the SAME thing!

I'll have to check out that video.

He was just your warm-up for those single guys to come :)

Tera said...

Nina~I certainly hope so!

Awww... oh well. There are other fish in the sea. Good to find out rather than moon over him forever and THEN find out.

That just means something better's on the way.

Tera said...

NoR~Why, I believe you're right!

Kofi~I believe that, truly I do.

My recommendation is to stop attaching read receipts to your email. It might come across as... needy... or opressive... I don't know, just spit balling that one.

Tera said...

Cyber~It's my work e-mail, so it kind of does it automatically as we are required to document, document, document! The end user has the option not to send it (which he didn't), but strangely, he continues to e-mail me!!!

Spit balling?

Cyber D said...

Wow your office is really into CYA. Doesn't that drive your clients up a wall? Spit Balling... ya know... like improvising, riffing, scater-shooting!

Tera said...

Cyber~Why yes my dear...I work for the government, and around here, it's better to CYA than have something come back and bite you in it later!!!

Uh...yeah...got that---it was just one of those phrases that made my stomach turn a cartwheel!

I'd recommend giving up on him and moving to Texas. Just an idea.

Tera said...

Dagromm~Are you being naughty?

Dagromm said...

Tera - Not yet!

Tera said...

Dagromm~Oooh la la!

I agree with Heather, invite him and his son out to eat. Maybe after an after school game with the kids. It is always easy to bond when the kids are occupying eachother!
